The tuber coxae and the adjacent part of the inguinal ligament.
Insertion
(1) The cartilages of the last four or five ribs; (2) the linea alba and the prepubic tendon.

Compresses and supports the abdomen, and to flex the trunk

Ventral branches of the lumbar nerves.
Blood Supply
Circumflex iliac, lumbar, and intercostal arteries.
